Green transformation for a socially just urban future
Mannheim is advancing integrated approaches to urban greening that link climate resilience with social inclusion and neighbourhood-level transformation. With a strong track record in sustainability and citizen-centred planning, Mannheim aims to use nature-based solutions to improve urban quality of life, particularly in areas facing environmental and social vulnerabilities.
The city's participation is led by Stadt Mannheim, supported by local and scientific partners working on participatory planning, environmental equity, and climate adaptation.

▸ Embedding nature-based solutions into social, spatial and climate strategies at the district level
▸ Co-developing interventions with communities to ensure inclusive and context-sensitive design
▸ Enhancing biodiversity, mitigating heat stress and improving public space accessibility
